In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Peter Parker sews his new suit himself. After years of high-tech suits, the look is handmade again: bold red and blue, raised black webbing and a slim spider on the chest. That makes it a Spider-Man look you can build at home. This guide covers what the Brand New Day suit looks like, the mask to build it around, three ways to make the rest, how to wear it all night, and duo and group ideas.
The short version
-
Start with the head. The mask is what people recognize first, so get that right and the rest can be simple.
-
Red torso with black web lines, deeper blue on the arms and legs, and a red belt line at the waist.
-
A slim black spider on the chest and a red spider on the back.
-
Finish with gloves and shoes, and order the mask early: free tracked shipping usually takes 10-22 business days.
What the Brand New Day suit looks like
The new suit mixes ideas from every live-action Spider-Man so far, but it reads as the classic comic look: simple primary colors without the metallic tech details of Peter's earlier suits. When you plan your costume, these are the details that matter.
-
Red with raised webbing. The red parts carry black web lines that sit on top of the fabric instead of being printed flat.
-
Deeper blue. The blue on the arms and legs is darker and less shiny than on earlier suits, with a light texture.
-
A red belt line separates the red torso from the blue below.
-
A slim spider on the chest, longer than on earlier suits, and a red spider on the back.
-
Large eyes in black frames.
Because Peter makes this suit himself in the film, a costume with visible seams and hand-painted lines is not a compromise. It fits the story.
Start with the mask
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day mask is built around the new film's redesigned eye shape, with a web pattern on a soft stretch fabric with a fine hex texture. The eyes are breathable mesh lenses you see out through, framed in black.

It fits most teens and adults with a head circumference up to about 60 cm (23.6 in). If you are not sure about your size, our head size guide shows how to measure with a soft tape. There are no electronics and nothing to charge, so there is nothing to go flat halfway through a party. It is a fan-made collectible and is not officially licensed by Marvel.
Three ways to build the rest
Pick the level that suits your time and budget. All three work with the same mask.
Quick: an afternoon of shopping
A fitted red long-sleeve top, dark blue leggings or slim joggers, red gloves and red or black sneakers. Add a black spider to the chest with an iron-on patch or fabric tape. From across a room, the mask and the red and blue blocks do the work.
Homemade: the Peter Parker way
Start from the same red top and blue bottoms and draw the web yourself. Dimensional fabric paint, the kind that dries as a raised line, gives you the raised webbing look of the new suit. Sketch the lines lightly with chalk first, work from the center of the chest outward, and let each side dry before you turn the top over. Paint a red belt line at the waist and a spider on the back to finish it. Try the top on before you paint, so the web lines sit where your body is and not where the hanger was.
Full suit: for photos and cosplay events
A one-piece printed red and blue suit gives you the cleanest lines for photos. If the suit comes with its own hood, wear the mask over it or tuck the mask's neck into the collar, so no skin shows at the neck. Add gloves and shoe covers or red boots and the costume is complete.
Wearing it all night
A fabric mask is the easiest head piece to wear for a whole party, and a few habits make it easier still.
-
Glasses: frames do not sit well under a fitted mask, so plan on contact lenses for the night.
-
Fogging and heat: breathe out through your mouth and down, and take the mask off for a few minutes somewhere cool when you get warm.
-
Food and drinks: the mask pulls off and goes back on in seconds, so take it off rather than lifting it halfway.
-
Photos: stand square to the camera. The eyes are the most recognizable part of the look and read best straight on.
-
Care: hand wash with mild soap and let it air dry after the party.
Duo and group ideas
Spider-Man and Daredevil
Two street-level heroes, and a duo where nobody needs batteries. The Daredevil: Born Again mask is a full-head mask with sculpted horns in red or black. Pair it with dark red or black layers.

Spider-Man and Iron Man
Mentor and student. Put one person in the Brand New Day mask and the other in a wearable Iron Man helmet with a motorized faceplate. Our guide to wearable helmet and mask costumes covers all three Iron Man helmets and what to wear with each.
A whole group
Spider-Man works in any Marvel group, from an Avengers night to a street-level team. The same guide has ideas for couples and groups built around one standout piece per person.
Safety before trick-or-treating
The mask is a costume piece, so plan for how much you can see.
-
Your side vision is narrower in any full-head mask, and mesh lenses are harder to see through in the dark.
-
Never drive in it, including the drive to the party.
-
Pull the mask up or off at street crossings and on stairs, and carry a flashlight after dark.
-
If you are walking kids around, you need to see the road first. Put the mask on for photos at the door.
FAQ
Is this the mask from the movie?
No. It is a fan-made collectible built around the Brand New Day eye shape and web pattern. It is not officially licensed by Marvel.
Can you see out of it?
Yes. The eyes are breathable mesh lenses you see out through. They work well indoors and for photos, and they are harder to see through in low light.
Will it fit my head?
It fits most teens and adults up to about 60 cm (23.6 in) head circumference. Measure with a soft tape before you order.
Do I need a full suit?
No. A red top, blue bottoms, gloves and a spider on the chest are enough to read as Spider-Man once the mask is on. A full suit mainly helps in close-up photos.
